Gambling Addiction: A veteran’s story
At First Defence Finance we visit barracks and meet one-to-one with serving personnel as part of our mission to help members of the Armed Forces be their best financially. Earlier this year we attended a briefing day where former British Army officer Justyn Rees Larcombe was also due to present as part of his role with GambleAware.
Justyn had a long and successful Army career and enjoyed an equally outstanding career in civvy street, where he was fast tracked for promotion in a global company. Living his dream life, with a wife, growing family and successful career, Justyn had everything. He then lost it all through an addiction to online gambling, blowing three quarters of a million pounds in three years.
Justyn blew our team away with his eye-opening story.
We are fortunate enough to be able to share his presentation which was recorded by TED Talks. Justyn was NEVER a gambler however this addiction can easily affect anyone, so please take some time to watch.
